On February 11, 2025, the district will present two replacement levies to voters to replace current levies that are set to expire in December 2025. Both levies support student learning in all grades within the district. These are not new taxes; they are a continuation of the existing levies and represent 20% of the district's budget. Failure of these levies would mean significant reductions to programs, services and staffing deemed essential to students and the community.
4-Year Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy (previously passed in February 2021). This Levy Supports:
- ALL athletics and extracurricular activities, including 71 coaching/advising positions, transportation, and equipment.
- Funding gaps in educational programs such as outdoor education, the arts, and classroom curriculum.
- 28 unfunded employees like librarians, mechanics, nurses, paraeducators, and counselors.
- Unexpected expenses like snow removal and higher than anticipated inflation.
4-Year Replacement Capital Levy for Safety, Security, Technology and Facility Improvements (previously passed in February 2021). This Levy Supports
- Classroom Technology.
- Facility Improvements like roof repairs at Icicle Ridge Middle School.
- Restroom Renovations at the Peshastin-Dryden Sports Complex.
- Security features that include a School Resource Officer.
Their webpage provides information about the levy, including its purpose, impact on the district, and how it will be used to support students and education in the Cascade School District.
