Fantastic Housing Opportunity!
|
We are helping MEND get the word out about a new homeownership opportunity!
A duplex is being built at 241 W. Commercial Street, within walking distance of downtown Leavenworth and Cascade School District schools. Each side of the duplex will be available for $315,000, less than half the price of a comparable unit on the open market.
This is a great opportunity for a local worker who is ready to move into homeownership but who cannot afford a home on the open market. Potential homeowners must qualify for the applicant pool based on income and residency requirements, and households with local employment will receive a weighted application during the selection process. Applications are accepted until October 31, 2025. For more information, please click the button.

Chelan County calls for lodging tax grant requests
|
This year, about $221,600 is available to successful applicants for projects in 2026.
Applicants must show that they can increase tourism and convention activity in Chelan County, boost overnight stays or retail sales, and impact the county’s economy. Applicants have until 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 to hand in the online application and required materials.
The advisory committee shares these tips to help make your application more successful:
- Don’t miss the deadline. No applications will be accepted after Oct. 10.
- Because the application is submitted online, it cannot be saved. Applicants should first read through the application and then gather materials and answers before starting it online. Or, save your answers in a Word document and cut and paste into the application.
- Don’t forget to submit your budget. Your budget must show the use of your organization’s and the county’s matching funds.
- If you have questions, email cm.ltac@co.chelan.wa.us.

Recreation Ambassador Program – Weekend Report
August 30/31
|
Weekend Summary 8/30 & 31:
Recreation on the river and trails remained steady throughout the Labor Day weekend. Between the forest and river locations volunteers assisted 2,611 visitors this week with information about responsible recreation, shopping, restaurants, lodging and general tourism.
Four volunteers per day from Chelan County Mountain Rescue staffed Eightmile and Stuart Lake Trailheads, interacting with 1,357 visitors over the weekend. Six volunteers per day from the Upper Valley Historical Society assisted at Barn Beach, Icicle Bridge, and the E. Leavenworth Boat Launch, interacting with 1,254 recreators over the weekend. Friday, Chamber staff assisted visitors at Stuart Lake trailhead.
Labor Day marks the end of the Recreation Ambassador volunteer weekends, however Chamber staff will continue to assist visitors at forest and river locations through mid-September. A big thanks goes out to all the Non-Profit Organizations that gave their time and expertise this year. Without amazing volunteers from these organizations this program would not happen, and our local community and natural resources would be worse off for it.
